Our History
When Autumn Glen (formerly Heritage at
Dartmouth) opened its doors on a lovely,
snowy day in December of 1997, it set the
standard for gracious assisted living, a newly popular option for seniors in the Dartmouth area. The SouthCoast area that encompasses Dartmouth is known for its welcoming and diverse history. From the early days of supporting the whaling industry to its more recent prominence in education and health care, every friend and visitor to the area has found a warm welcome and beautiful scenery. In the same way, the first residents to our community were warmly welcomed by executive director Lois Spirlet, RN, BSN and her wonderful leadership team.
Since that time, there have been many changes: a lovely updated look to the community; enhanced amenities for the residents such as our Brain Gym; Eat Fresh/Eat Local, our vibrant new dining service; the excitement of new activities such as professionally taught art lessons and just-for-fun Wii games; a change in ownership, and changing faces as new friends joined us.
But some things have not changed in over ten years. Lois and her wonderful staff, many still here since the doors were opened, continue to warmly welcome and care for the residents that choose to make our beautiful community their new home. Come see for yourself what makes Autumn Glen the first choice for SouthCoast seniors looking for a vibrant, healthy community for many years to come.
